When Tragedy Strikes… Dealing with the Questions

Struggling with heartache as I watched dear friends dealing with the loss of their loved ones this week. 2 tragedies among friends in 48 hours. Untimely deaths... Accidents... Spouses, Children, & Dear Friends left behind. This book has been such a blessing and a comfort to me, and an precious reminder of the fantastically good nature of God and his heart for us. We ask tough questions, so did Ann after her own heartbreak: "Can there be a good God? A God who graces with good gifts when a crib lies empty through long nights and bugs burrow through coffins? Where is God, really? How can He be good when babies die, and marriages implode, and dreams blow away, dust in the wind? Where is grace bestowed when cancer gnaws and loneliness aches and nameless places in us soundlessly die, break off without reason, erode away. Where hides this joy of the Lord, this God who fills the earth with good things, and how do I fully live when life is full of hurt? How do I wake up to joy and grace and beauty and all that is the fullest life when I must stay numb to losses and crushed dreams and all that empties me out?" - Excerpt from Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts I am loving exploring the answers to those tough questions along with her the past few weeks... and in light of the events of the past few days -- just the reminder my heart needed. Praying for the loved ones working through their loss this week. Thank You, God that you have their precious hearts in your hand. Read more...

Do We Bring God Glory When We Debate Controversies?

Fellow blogger, Chelsea Dent at Momma Dent Gets Personal just wrote a great post: "Debating Controversial Topics: Does it Bring God Glory?" She brings a much needed balanced perspective on all the hot button issues surfacing on social media. I have been guilty of this myself, and I am trying to balance out defending the truth with honoring God's instructions for how we are to get along as fellow believers. Finding that balance between love and truth is easier said than done, but it is important that we let God continue to work on our hearts and show us how to live this out and honor him. Read more...

Happy Independence Day : What today means to a Political Refugee now US Citizen

I am so grateful to be able to live in this country and call myself a citizen. After coming here from Romania in 1990 as political refugees from the Communist Dictatoriship in power at the time, our family has a special understanding of what freedom means to us. My parents gave up everything to bring us here, and give us a better life. After living someplace where your life was at risk if you were a Christian, and where we were denied many other freedoms we take forgranted sometimes now... I am very passionately protective of our liberties here in the US. Read more...

Blinking through Our Tears

Hidden in those moments of grief when we are blinking through our tears, is an amazing opportunity for blessing, if we stay faithful to the Lord. Healing comes in the worship. Joy comes in the morning. #Ruth Read more...

Pushing back the Battle Line

May we increase our confidence in what we can accomplish in this spiritual battle through Christ. May we be diligent in pushing back the battle line farther and farther each day - breaking the enemy's hold, regardless of the sacrifice and surrender needed on our part. He goes before. We march behind. In Christ we can do all things. Read more...
