Thanks for the very warm comments about my jewellery and my blog :D
Yes, I make it all myself (that's right, I have no life outside of making jewellery, looking after the children and the odd help on the farm if I absolutely have to ;) ).
You say you live just outside of NYC - is it a built-up area (towns/cities) or a bit more rural?
It's VERY rural here LOL. Can't even see another house! Its grazing and some farming country. We're perched on the Great Dividing Range in New South Wales (the same state that Sydney is in). It isn't that high though compared to the ranges in the USA! It is fairly temperate but probably similar to New Mexico I believe in summer although perhaps a bit cooler in winter. We don't get snow - its sometimes feels cold enough though ;)
Our house is passive solar, modern in design with lovely high ceilings and lots of windows. I am NOT a gardener so I have a small formal rose garden out the front of the house and the rest of the yard is grass and trees. We've only lived here just over a decade so the trees are still a bit small - but they're getting there.
I live 25km (about 10miles) from my local town - its only small with a couple of mini-marts (incl. some clothes, newsagent), a hardware and rural supplies, a pharmacy, a couple of small cafes, a butcher, hairdresser, bank, library, small gym, part time dance studio, laundromat, a gift shop and two pubs and two gas stations. There are also a couple of businesses that support the farming sector eg. metals/welding etc. Also a small hospital, doctor, part time dentist, pre-school, primary school and a central school. My children catch two buses each way to and from school. I go to town once a week for the children's dance classes and to do some weekly groceries.
I travel each six weeks to the next biggest town that is 100km away (40 odd miles?) and get my haircut, do a big grocery shop etc.
That gives a run down on where I live - what would you like to know next???
(Maybe you will want to move downunder if I make it sound good enough!!!!)
Share a little something about yourself with other moms.
I am a married Mom of four. I work full time as an account executive. Last year the youngest of our four left for college and we entered the "empty nest" stage of life. It was then that I started my website. It was meant to be an album of family celebration ideas and memories for our family. However, I learned quickly, that once on the web, visitors arrive. I was receiving emails and comments asking for help and ideas from my visitors on how to plan their own special celebrations. As a resuilt, I revamped my family website and created a site that would share ideas for all kinds of celebrations and events. It has become my most favorite hobby and a wonderful source of daily communication between all of the family. They give me ideas about things we had done that I hadn't thought about for years as well as critique all my new pages. It has turned into a fun and very funny way of keeping us all connected!
